EFTTA and EFFTEX to close in UK and move to Belgium

The European Fishing Tackle Trade Association and its exhibition arm, EFTTEX, are to shut down in the UK and relocate to Belgium as a not-for-profit organisation.

The companies issued a statement which said: “When EFTTA was first established in 1981 our purpose was to promote the industry, promote sportfishing, international business and environmental issues.

“Our purpose continues to be the same, however trade and environmental issues have grown into so much more through our extensive lobbying work at European Parliament level. Due to BREXIT and the United Kingdom (UK) leaving the EU it’s in our members’ interest to stop this work with UK registered companies and launch EFTTA AIBSL in Belgium to continue this important work.
“The EFTTA board has therefore taken a decision to shut down our British companies and to start, within this year, an EFTTA-AISBL (Association Internationale sans but lucratif or International Non-Profit Association) in Belgium.”

More news is due soon.
