Pitman Creek expands sales teams

Pitman Creek Wholesale LLC, a US-based leading independently owned fishing tackle distributor, has announced a major expansion of its sales force to better serve the southern coastal regions of the United States plus two new key accounts team members.

The company has hired nine seasoned industry veterans to bring personalised service and support to saltwater fishing retailers.

At the same time, it has added two seasoned industry veterans who will greatly improve Pitman Creek’s ability to service customers. Julia Peterson and Brenda Mock bring over 40 years of combined experience to the Pitman Creek Team and better serve mass merchants.

James Coffey, president and owner of Pitman Creek, said: “Recent developments in the fishing industry have allowed us to extend our best-in-class shipping and data services to a broader customer base. We’ve been building our saltwater offering for nearly a decade, and this expansion is a natural next step to meet growing demand.

“We are [also] extremely excited to add to our best-in-class key accounts team. As our mass merchant business continues to grow, this addition will allow us to maintain our industry best customer service to that segment of the industry.”

Vice president Addison Coffey added: “Bringing on a new coastal salesforce reinforces our commitment to strategic, thoughtful growth. It follows our successful acquisition of Sports Specialists in Wisconsin and aligns with our mission to foster strong partnerships with both customers and vendors. Coastal communities are deeply connected to fishing, and we’re excited to provide them with the service and product depth they deserve.

“Bringing on two team members as well respected in the industry as Julia and Brenda will reinforce our ability to service our customers. They embody everything it means to provide superior customer service and this addition allows us to continue to grow all parts of our business. Their regional expertise and data analytics capabilities will allow us to not only better service mass merchants but allow us to expand our regional reach to our independent dealer customers.”

Founded in 1978 in Somerset, Kentucky, by Don and Marella Stephens, Pitman Creek has evolved from a custom lure maker to a comprehensive fishing tackle distributor.

After being acquired by James S Coffey in 1993, the company relocated to Stanford, Kentucky and now services over 8,000 retailers across the country, with more than 200 full-time employees in Kentucky and Wisconsin.
