EFTTEX postponed until 2023

The European Fishing Tackle Trade Exhibition (EFTTEX) – which had only just been scheduled for September in Budapest – is to be postponed now until 2023.

Tackle Trade World understands that there was still too much uncertainty over the number of confirmed exhibitors and visitors at a time when travel was still difficult and it was awkward for companies to find extra budgets and staff at such short notice for this year.

Research in recent weeks had shown that many visitors were reluctant to make the trip with Covid still on the horizon along with other factors such as travel concerns and in the current geopolitical climate.

However, the planned Best New Product Showcase WILL go ahead as an online or virtual event, scheduled for release in October, and those who had committed to and paid for the 2022 show will be given a special package for entry for both this and next year.

The show will return to Budapest and the HungExpo centre from June 15th to 17th, 2023, with priority and special deals given to those who had already booked space for this year.

One of the organising committee, Istvan Pal, said: “We very much regret having to take this decision, especially after so much hard work by so many people to get the event to this point.

“But there is still too much that is uncertain for many exhibitors – for example travel and Covid – so we have to make a decision that is in the best interests of everyone. We will, of course look after those businesses which had already pledged their support.

“Our new-look and re-energised Digital Best New Product Showcase WILL run this year and that will grow into a major part of EFTTEX, going forward – something that both exhibitors and non-exhibitors will see value in and want to be involved with each year.

“There will be a significant marketing campaign around this to ensure the maximum exposure for products and brands that have entered in a range of categories and we will be introducing a special weighting for ‘green’ products to encourage more sustainability too.

“The products will be displayed in a special EFTTEX showroom in Budapest for additional exposure and to allow for independent judging to take place before the awards are announced at the end of October.”
