DAIWA US president takes up international role

With nearly 10 years at America’s DAIWA Corporation in senior management roles, including company president for the past four years, Carey Graves has accepted a role as an executive officer and representative director at parent company Globeride, Inc.

Based in Tokyo, Japan, Globeride was founded in 1958 and has sales offices and facilities around the world, the company invested in the manufacturing of fishing equipment, in addition to tennis, golf and cycle sports goods. 

With his new position, Graves retains his president role for American DAIWA Corporation, along with being the executive officer and representative director for the Globeride board of firectors for DAIWA’s operations in North America, South America and Australia.

Carey said: “I’m both humbled and honoured to not only continue my role here in the United States and the western hemisphere for our fishing products but also contributing to Globeride’s success worldwide.

He joined American DAIWA Corporation in 2016 as vice-president of sales, followed by his promotion to President in 2021. He has served multiple terms and continues to serve on the American Sportfishing Association’s Board of Directors.

During his time with American DAIWA Corporation, Carey oversaw the move from its longtime office and warehouse in Cypress, California, to a new facility in Foothill Ranch, in the same state, which more than doubled its warehouse and shipping operations, along with creating the office business environment to accommodate future growth plans.

Carey recently returned from Globeride’s 70th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in Tokyo where his appointment became official.
