Nominations sought for key Australian tackle players

The Australian Fishing Trade Association will once again be recognising individuals who have made meaningful, enduring contributions to the recreational fishing industry through their association with AFTA.
Since its inception in 2013, the AFTA Hall of Fame has honoured distinguished members of the sector, acknowledging their significant influence on the industry.
Meanwhile, the prestigious peer-led Industry Recognition Award calls out individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the recreational fishing industry in Australia.
Importantly, Hall of Fame nominees must be current or past members of the Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA and should demonstrate sustained, impactful service to the recreational fishing industry that reflects a deep commitment to AFTA’s mission of protecting fishing’s future and increasing participation.
Contributions should extend beyond professional obligations and include voluntary, personal or community-driven efforts, possibly including political advocacy and engagement to protect fishing access, involvement in fisheries management and policy development, initiatives that grow recreational fishing participation or activities that safeguard the long-term viability of the sector.
Significant involvement that has advanced the industry and supported AFTA’s mission, including, but not limited to, serving as an office-bearer, committee member, or championing AFTA’s strategic goals, is essential
Industry Recognition Award nominees must have demonstrated outstanding dedication to advancing recreational fishing in Australia, including initiating or supporting projects that have improved the industry, advocating for sustainable fishing practices and fostering growth and participation within the fishing community.
Their contributions should reflect a commitment to excellence, innovation, and positive change, going beyond routine professional duties to deliver lasting benefits for the sector.
They also need to show active industry engagement, be recognised by their peers and have created a lasting positive impact on the sector through innovation, mentorship, advocacy or leadership.
The deadline for nominations has been extended until June 30th.
