The tackle trade has been saddened by news of the passing of Tom Mackin, a former president of Rapala VMC USA and longtime member of the Rapala VMC group executive committee.

Tom dedicated over 30 years of his life to the Rapala brand, helping to shape its legacy with passion, integrity, and visionary leadership. He had recently entered retirement.

Rapala VMC president and CEO Cyrille Viellard led the tributes, saying: “Throughout his remarkable career, Tom was known not only as an exceptional marketer but also as a warm, humble and compassionate leader.

“His deep knowledge of the fishing industry, combined with his unwavering support for colleagues and partners alike, earned him respect across the global angling community.

“Tom’s impact extended far beyond business. He was a mentor to many, a trusted guide and, above all, a dear friend. His leadership left a great mark on Rapala VMC and especially on our Team USA colleagues, many of whom grew under his guidance.

“Our thoughts are with Tom’s family during this difficult time. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.”
