Hardy celebrates conservation heritage with reel collaboration

Long-established brand Hardy has unveiled a collaboration with Trout Unlimited, commemorating 65 years of the organisation’s work to protect and restore North America’s rivers and streams.
The limited edition Trout Unlimited Tealweight Fly Reel has been designed as a celebration of conservation, craftsmanship and the future of fly fishing.
Hardy brand manager Jake Fischenich explained: “We’ve always believed that the beauty of fly fishing goes beyond the act of fishing—it’s about the rivers we fish, the ecosystems we treasure, and the legacy we leave.
“This collaboration with TU is our way of honouring their decades-long commitment to safeguarding these invaluable waters while offering anglers a piece of history they can carry to the stream.”
The reel is both a fishing tool and a tribute. Featuring a striking deep teal anodised finish, hand-polished nickel silver line guard and Hardy’s iconic check mechanism, this reel bridges heritage with innovation.
Each reel, crafted in Hardy’s Alnwick workshop in the UK, is individually numbered and engraved with Trout Unlimited’s signature “Trout” logo, ensuring its place as a collector’s item for fly fishing enthusiasts.
Limited to just 300 reels, the TU Tealweight is designed for 3-4 weight rods and delivers the timeless click-check sound that echoes Hardy’s storied legacy.
Hardy is committed to making a lasting impact through this partnership. For every reel sold, $100 will be donated to Trout Unlimited, supporting their ongoing work in river, stream and watershed restoration across the United States.
Jake added: “This collaboration underscores our shared belief in preserving the waters that are vital to our sport. From the skilled hands that craft each reel in Alnwick to the conservationists in the field, this partnership is a testament to what we can achieve together.”
