Shark research boosted by new frame styles

Costa Sunglasses has added to its OCEARCH collection with two more frame styles, called Vela and Switchfoot.

Sunglasses manufacturer Costa Del Mar is a serious player in the angling world when it comes to environmental issues that pose deep threats to the sport. The company is involved in a number of safeguarding initiatives that will not only help protect the future of the sport but also initiatives that have an impact immediately.

To help conserve the shark population, OCEARCH was set up by a group of scientists and explorers that set out to conduct ocean research expeditions to gather critical data to save sharks, and the oceans. The fact is that great white and tiger sharks are apex predators that help keep the ocean’s ecosystems balanced. By protecting sharks, it helps to protect the oceans.

Costa’s long-term partnership with OCEARCH deepens its commitment to protect the lifeblood of the oceans and has released two new frame styles that will go a long way in supporting OCEARCH.

Costa’s OCEARCH Collection now features 17 sunglass frames and four optical frame options, with 12 different frame colours.

Switchfoot and Vela

One of the latest frame styles added to the collection is called Switchfoot and features a unique double-bridge style, Hydrolite nosepads and adjustable temple tips for a comfortable fit. The Switchfoot is available in Matte Tiger Shark and Matte Black. The Vela offers Hydrolite nosepads, adjustable temple tips and a classic shape. This new frame is available in Shiny Coastal Fade and Matte Deep Teal Crystal.

Apparel is also a key part of the OCEARCH Collection, including shirts for men, women and children. This offering includes technical shirts and hat options that all carry designs like the OCEARCH wave shark and OCEARCH huddle.

Costa’s vice president of marketing, TJ McMeniman, said, “The research OCEARCH is doing is critical to the health of our oceans and is providing important data to help protect the balance of its ecosystem. Supporting this research is core to Costa’s commitment to conservation and has been a long-standing partnership that the company, and its people, remain extremely passionate about.”

A portion of the proceeds from each sale of sunglasses, optical frames and apparel in the OCEARCH Collection goes to the support of OCEARCH and its mission to protect sharks. Through this collection, Costa is working to help keep our oceans balanced through awareness and funding of OCEARCH expeditions.
