Founding editor returns to TTW hot seat

Almost 20 years after he first launched fishing industry title Tackle Trade World, John Hunter has returned to the position of editor.

John, who has been working as an editorial consultant on the publication for the past year, has stepped up to the key role following the departure of previous editor John Watson.

He brings with him more than 20 years’ experience in the tackle industry, running both consumer and trade publications, and is still a regular at international shows and events.

John – who spent six years at the helm of Tackle Trade World following its launch – was also the editor of UK trade magazine Tackle & Guns for 17 years, helping organise the well-known T&G Trade Show throughout that time, as well as running TTW sister title Gun Trade World for six years.

He left parent company DHP back in 2017 to set up his own PR, marketing and events consultancy – HunterMedia – which has now been engaged to handle the editorial side of Tackle Trade World.

John said: “I recall launching Tackle Trade World way back in 2000 at the EFTTEX show in Lyon, France, armed only with a front cover concept, a rate card and a belief that the industry needed a simple way of putting manufacturers in touch with distributors and retailers around the world.

“Almost 20 years on, that vision still holds true and myself and our excellent team, including Business Development Managers Simon Calvert and Bart Manganiello, know that TTW continues to provide a vital service to manufacturers, distributors and dealers across the globe.

“No other global fishing tackle trade publication has a larger circulation, with over 18,000 copies distributed every month in over 120 countries while carrying the most global industry editorial and ad pages.
