Danish fishing tackle brand Westin has strengthened its presence in the North American fishing market with the appointment of Barry Stockhaus.

Barry has previously worked for some of the biggest names in the business, such as Mepps, Mister Twister and Sébile, before becoming account manager in the Midwest for Pure Fishing, winning the company’s coveted salesman of the year award along the way.

“I am extremely excited to join Team Westin and help grow the brand in North America,” commented Barry. “The Westin team are passionate anglers like me and I look forward to bringing my knowledge of the North American angler to the company. This will be an exciting journey ahead and I am very glad to be a part of it.”

Westin already has a strong foothold in the North American market with a successful partnership with the wholesale distributor Big Rock Sports. The new appointment is designed to support this agreement.

“We’re thrilled to have Barry on board. His knowledge and market expertise will assist us in catapulting the Westin brand to the next level,” said Bob Hunter, vice-president of merchandising for Big Rock Sports.

The link between Big Rock Sports and the Danish HQ is seen as a vital strategic focus for Westin.

“It is really important for us to have feet on the ground in North America, to better support the good job that Big Rock is doing for us. Barry fills the gap perfectly,” explained Westin’s Thomas Sanotra, in his new role as director of operations.
