Portuguese fishing brand Vega has announced a deal to make its products available in the United States.
The company will be working with Virginia-based Cape Henry Custom Rods and Fishing Gear to supply its products and several new USA market-specific products to American fishing tackle retail stores with immediate effect.
The move, almost one year in the making, is the end result of a painstaking series of field tests conducted by Vega’s local consultants, aimed at designing a product range that proved able to meet the high demands of American anglers.
“You can’t expect to go into a market like the US without a real competitive edge, and ours could be none other than what’s been our DNA since we started, more than 25 years ago: the ability to design market-specific, trustworthy tackle, able to meet all demands, both from leisure and competitive anglers,” said Vega’s CEO Jorge Mourinho.
“For this reason, we only considered the move because we had the chance to build an experienced local consultants team of die-hard anglers with a passion to conceive, design, test and develop a wide product range able to fulfil the needs of US anglers.”
Luis Da Silva, Vega’s chief developer in the US, added: “We’ve been fishing in several spots on the US shoreline with the developing products and often take the chance to show them to local anglers, and they can’t seem to get enough of them.
“And we think we understand why: they’re built like no other and it’s easy for experienced anglers to see how each product will improve his results.
“So, naturally, tackle shop owners can spot the difference as well, as we’ve been able to see from the reactions we get when we visit them.”
