Italian Style Council
Stonfo, the innovative Italian tackle design company, has been working on its fly fishing accessories and has come up with a fantastic four that’ll make some of those difficult dubbing fly-tying techniques even easier to master.
Creating dubbing ropes of the correct width, colour and texture can be difficult and time-consuming tasks. These four items will ensure that these are made simple and, once completed, the dubbing can be teased out and finished, bringing maximum life to the fibres of the completed fly pattern.
THREAD SPLITTER Art. 635
Another of Stonfo’s high-precision tool range, this small accessory has been created so that you can split thin threads to create dubbing loops that can then be incorporated into the tying of small flies. The intricate splitting operation, normally very difficult to perform manually, is a relatively simple task using this tool.
ROTODUBBING ELITE Art. 612
This superior-quality stainless steel dubbing tool has an integral ball bearing that allows a fast and smooth rotation in just about any direction that you’ll ever need. Its swinging head permits 180 degrees of free motion with a central locking mechanism. The positioning of the head at 90 degrees prevents unrolling of the dubbing, so it can be wrapped straight onto the hook without using hackle pliers. It comes with complete instructions.
CREATIVE DUBBING KIT Art. 648
This simple accessory makes it easy to create a dubbing rope of various diameters and lengths. Using yarns of different colours, it’s possible to create multi-coloured lures with any combination of colours and textures. Your imagination is the only limit on the special effects that can be created mixing materials of different types, like polypropylene, Flashabou, Crystal Flash and so on. It’s supplied with two hair clips and complete instructions.
PETTINE COMB Art. 645
This is a handy little tool made of high-impact plastic material that, once you have one, you’ll wonder how you did without it. The Pettine Comb is a small, narrow-toothed comb and a Velcro brush. Useful for a number of tasks, it has been created specifically to improve the finishing of your lures and fly bodies, teasing out fibres to increase their attraction and natural movement through the water.
