Business Profile – The Worth Company

Global lure component manufacturer, Worth Company, was founded back in 1940 and has, over the years, developed into a forward thinking and innovative company who are embracing new technology in order to help further support its customers.

In 1940 The Worth Company was founded by Joseph Worth. Joseph was a Canadian immigrant and was an extremely keen fly fisherman and started his company as a fly tying factory. The company has always been located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, USA and during its peak fly tying operation had tying factories in Amherst, Wisconsin and Escanaba, Michigan. Now, the Worth Company is owned by David Worth who is still partially active, however it is run by Vice President Kris Crass and David’s son Timothy who is Director of Operations.

The core business of the Worth Company is the manufacturing of lure components that are all made under one roof at its factory in Stevens Point. It’s the army of employees that are skilled in metal fabricating and finishing which includes metal stamping, spring coiling, wire forming and screw-machining who bring Worth products to life. In addition to all this, Worth does all of its own electroplating and polishing, tool and die machining and not forgetting painting and product imaging.

Worth is currently the proud supplier of lure components to 4000 companies throughout the United States and 60 other international territories. Over the 80 years of being in business the company has seen dramatic changes in global economies and fishing economies and have had to adapt to such changes. Originally Worth created fishing lures however it has now made the transition to supplying lure components within the industry to further broaden its business.

New technology

Changes in manufacturing technology have helped the business to come up with its new concept – Real Feel Blades and Spoons. By incorporating the latest state of the art printing technology, Worth has found a way in which to manufacture ultra-realistic components. Worth’s printing technology can print jpeg images of any image onto customer’s spinner blades and spoons, which will really bring them to life. The graphic design team specialise in exactly what you want, so if you have a logo or an image of a particular baitfish, then it can be printed onto the blade with a tough and durable finish. Not only can the image be printed on one side, having it printed on both sides of the blade is an option too.

Also, to add extra colour, UV, some glow or even scales of a fish is no problem such is the advancement of technology. There is also a service available (will design artwork) that if you are undecided about what to have printed onto your products, the team will work closely with you to ensure a unique design that fits your requirements to create the product that’s right for you. All you need to do is provide a high quality image or graphic – Worth Company will do the rest. The bottom line is that Worth Company makes every effort to assist each and every one of its customers to become the best they can be. By helping solve problems, come up with new and innovative processes and ideas, Worth offers the services that allow its customers to excel while remaining a rock solid reliable supplier of products to the angling trade.
